About this Hymn
In his second letter to the Corinthians Paul spoke of the "God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction" (2 Cor. 1:3–4), pointing to the way in which we sometimes experience hardship so we can learn how to minister to others in the same fashion (2 Cor. 7:6–7; 1 Thess. 5:14).
Lyrics
Verse 1
Commit thou all thy griefs and ways unto his hands, to his sure trust and tender care who earth and heav'n commands.

Verse 2
Who points the clouds their course, whom winds and seas obey, he shall direct thy wand'ring feet, he shall prepare thy way.

Verse 3
Thou on the Lord rely, so, safe shalt thou go on; fix on his work thy steadfast eye, so shall thy work be done.

Verse 4
No profit canst thou gain by self-consuming care; to him commend thy cause, his ear attends the softest prayer.

Verse 5
Thy everlasting truth, Father, thy ceaseless love, sees all thy children's wants, and knows what best for each will prove.

Verse 6
Thou ev'rywhere hast sway, and all things serve thy might, thy ev'ry act pure blessing is, thy path unsullied light.
