About this Hymn
This song had very simple beginnings. Laurie Klein, a young wife and mother, was struggling. "It was a dark time in my life," she recalls. "We had no extra money, no friends nearby, no church home, and my husband was busy all the time with his studies. We lived on a highway in a mobile home, so I couldn't even put the baby in a stroller and go for a walk. I was lonely." Out of that quiet desperation came a song of pure devotion—one that resonated deeply with the Jesus Movement and, over time, the wider church.
