About this Hymn
This is helpful as a hymn for children to sing at night, teaching them to trust in Jesus as their shepherd. Throughout Christian history the rhythm of singing to the Lord in the evening has been a healthy and meaningful way to end the day in worship and reflection.

Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me, bless thy little lamb tonight. Through the darkness be thou near me, watch my sleep till morning light.

Chorus
When I'm troubled and afraid, I will trust in thee and pray: Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me, bless thy little lamb tonight. bless thy little lamb tonight.

Verse 2
All this day thy hand has led me, and I thank thee for thy care. Thou hast clothed me, warmed and fed me; listen to my evening prayer.
