About this Hymn
This is a children's song for beginning the day. In British school assemblies (chapels) it was a familiar habit to sing songs about the day. Each day the Lord awakens the dawn as a daily invitation to sing to God.
Lyrics
Verse 1
See the sunlight fill the sky; God has said, "Let there be light." He made all the earth and sea; in him alone we move and breathe.
Chorus
Sing, sing, children sing; early bring your praise to the King.
Verse 2
Hear the birdsong fill the air, calling us to morning prayer; for the Lord is King of all, the old and young and great and small.
Verse 3
Feel the warmth upon your face; turn to him for ev'ry grace, for our Lord and greatest friend will brings us mercies new again.
Verse 4
Wake within his loving care; seek his kingdom ev'rywhere; follow closely by his side; oh, praise him, Maker, Savior, Guide.
