About this Hymn
Throughout the ages when people gather, a call to stillness has been an integral part of worship. Many things in life make us restless—worry, fear, sin, earthly ambition, forgetfulness of truth, and despair. Used as a solo or with the congregation, this song echoes the psalmist's cry that our souls might respond and remember that he is God.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Still, my soul, be still, and do not fear, though winds of change may rage tomorrow. God is at your side; no longer dread the fires of unexpected sorrow.

Chorus 1
God, you are my God, and I will trust in you and not be shaken. Lord of peace, renew a steadfast spirit within me to rest in you alone.

Verse 2
Still, my soul, be still; do not be moved by lesser lights and fleeting shadows. Hold onto his ways with shield of faith against temptation's flaming arrows.

Verse 3
Still, my soul, be still; do not forsake the truth you learned in the beginning. Wait upon the Lord, and hope will rise as stars appear when day is dimming.

Chorus 2
God, you are my God, and I will trust in you and not be shaken. Lord of peace, renew a steadfast spirit within me to rest in you alone. I rest in you alone, I rest in you alone.
