About this Hymn
Psalm 118 is one of the psalms quoted most frequently by the writers of the New Testament; Jesus himself proclaimed how his kingdom was foretold by this passage. Although he was rejected by his own, it was the Lord's doing that he was established as the Savior of the nations. Now we are able to give him thanks, honor, and blessing as the Rock of our salvation. – David P. Regier
Lyrics
Verse 1
The stone the builders once refused is now our Cornerstone; this marvel in our eyes, approved by our great God alone.

Verse 2
This is the day the Lord has made; therefore we shall rejoice. O Lord, please prosper us, and save; to you we lift our voice!

Verse 3
Blest is the one who comes to us in God's own holy name; we gather in his temple, thus his blessing to proclaim.

Verse 4
The Lord Almighty, he is God; he gives to us his light. Upon the altar of our hearts we offer sacrifice.

Verse 5
We give you thanks, for you are God; your name we lift above. We give him thanks, for he is good; for his eternal love.
